چکیده: تادائو آندو (Tadao Ando) در سال 1941 میلادی در شهر ازاكای ژاپن متولد شده است.از سن 10 تا 17 سالگی بیشتر وقتش را صرف ساختن مدل ها و الگوهای چوبی از كشتی ها و هواپیما می كرد. در اوایل بیست سالگی ، شخصاً تصمیم گرفت سبكی از معماری را مطالعه كند به همین جهت برای دیدن معبد ها و زیارتگاه ها به سرتاسر ژاپن سفر كرد. او برخلاف بیشتر معماران امروزی، تحصیلات رسمی در مدارس معماری نداشته است وتعالیم خود آموخته و غیر آكادمیك خود را به عنوان یك معمار با سفرهای آموزشی به اروپا و آمریكا و آفریقا و مطالعه بر روی خانه های فرانك لویدرایت و كارهای مدرنیسم قدیمی (كلاسیك) تكمیل كرد.
