چکیده: درطی چند سال گذشته یك بحث گسترده بین افراد متخصص و دانشگاهیان راجع به اینكه آیا یك روش مدیریت پورتفولیو می تواند با بانكها در مدیریت بهتر ریسك سرمایه كمك كند و اینكه چگونه روش مدیریت پورتفولیو برای سهام داران ارزش ایجاد می كند، وجود داشته است . در این مقاله ، نویسندگان می گویند كه چهار محرك وجود دارد كه بانكها را ملزم می كنند كه به هنگام مدیریت دارائی های اعتباری از حالت معاملاتی به یك روش كه بیشتر شبیه به مدیریت پورتفولیو است حركت كنند. این چهار محرك عبارتند از : تغییرات ساختاری در بازارهای اعتباری ، ناكارآمدی انتقال ریسك به بازارهای وام دهی ، افزایش سطح بدهی در ایالات متحده و تغییرات پیشنهاد شده برای كفایت سرمایه . نویسندگان در ادامه هیچ تغییر همزمانی در قواعد مربوط به كفایت سرمایه مشاهده نكردند به عنوان اولین قدم آنها به سمت همگرایی بین ریسك سرمایه و ترتیب سرمایه برای ریسك سرمایه حركت كرده اند این تغییرات مستلزم آن است كه بانكها به تلاشهای خود برای ایجاد اولین كلاس از مهارتها و توانمندیهای مدیریت پورتفولیو شتاب دهند ، به كسب بهترین روش مدیریت پورتفولیوی اعتباری از طریق فرصتهای جذاب برای ایجاد ارزش سهامداران و قادر شدن بانكها در رقابت موفقیت آمیز ، پاداش داده می شود.
