قسمتی از متن:خاک یک توده ی بیجان نیست بلکه درآن علاوه بر مواد آلی ومعدنی_هواوآب_موجودات زنده نظیرباکتریها_قارچها_کرمهای خاکیوغیره نیزوجوددارند.این موجودات هم درخواص شیمیایی خاک و تغذیه ی گیاه(تجزیه ی مواد اآلی تبدیل آن به مواد غذایی برای گیاه وهوموس وحل یا قابل جذب کردن مواد معدنی با کمک گازکربنیک حاصل براثر تجزیه ی مواد آلی وتنفس موجودات زنده وغیره...)وهم در خواص فیزیکی خاک(مخلوط کردن موادآلی با مواد معدنی_ایجاد گذرگاهها و مجاری برای نفوذ آب_ریشه_هواوغیره)بسیار موثر است.بنابراین موجودات زنده ی خاک وظیفه ی مهمی در امر تغذیه ی گیاه وبهبود بخشیدن به خواص خاک به عهده دارند وبدون آنها خاک فاقد هرگونه ارزش زراعی است ومحصول نمیدهد.افزایش سریع جمعیت وبالا رفتن سطح زندگی وقدرت خرید مردم درده مخصوصا در بیست سال اخیر سبب شدکه بشر برای تامین خوراک وپوشاک خود ازیک طرف برسطح زمین های زیر کشت بیفزایدوازطرف دیگربا بکار بردن فنون جدید واستفاده از ماشین آلات کشاورزی ومصرف کود شیمیایی زیاد وسموم مختلف برای از بین بردن آفاتوامراض گیاهی_میزان محصول را در واحد سطح افزایش دهد.اقداماتی که در جهت افزایش تولید صورت گرفته است_ چه در کشاورزی وچه در صنعت (مثل تاسیس کارخانه هاوبه کار انداختن وسایل موتوری متعددوبه کار بردن کودهای شیمیایی وسموم نباتی نامناسب وزیاد استفاده از فاضلابها وزباله های وشهری) غالبابه طور غیر مستقیم (ازطریق آلودگی هوا وآب)ومستقیم باعث آلودگی خاک ودر نتیجه ازبین رفتن موجودات زنده وکاهش آلودگی خاک شده است.موادی که به طور مستقیم وارد خاک میشوند جزو مواد آلوده کننده ی خاک محسوب میشوند وعمل فرسایش خاک که توسط بادوغیره صورت میگیرد جزوعوامل آلوده کننده محسوب نمی شود.
